When selecting an international school for their children, expatriate families should consider what type of curriculum the school adopts. There are a number of different types of curriculum, which range from play-based learning to structured curriculum, as well as country-specific learning. It is also important to consider things such as the convenience of location, how easy it will be for children to make friends and what extra opportunities are available, such as sports, trips and extracurricular activities. Combining these things will ensure that children are getting the most holistic education possible.

A strong early childhood education prepares children to be lifelong learners. Through the guidance of their teachers and their own exploration, they are introduced to the wonders of the world. At One World International School, we proudly offer the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme because we believe that it provides students with the framework they need to become lifelong learners. Within the IB-PYP is the Programme of Inquiry or POI. The POI is an outline that provides information about what students within each grade level will focus on. The teachers, instructors and administrators worked to create a POI for every grade level, from the Early Childhood programme through to the fifth grade. The POI creates a consistent guideline that emphasises OWIS and IB-PYP philosophies.
